Memories of Homeland

Hear Stories Wild and Tall,
Of the Land you Wish not to Forget at All.

Ingrained are Memories so Sweet,
Of People, Places, and Things you Meet.

Jagged Rocks, Dusty Roads, Snow Capped Peaks,
Sun Tanned Faces, Long Embraces, Kissed Cheeks.

Narrow Gorges, Long Valleys , Northern Steeps,
Strong Men, Wise Women, Eastern Mystiques.

Historical Leaders, Fallen Heroes, Figures Oblique.
Daunting Canyons, Gashing Rivers, Pastures Unique.

Memories Abound of Wild Creatures, Man and Beast,
Piled up with Many Reasons Like a Wedding Feast.

Triggers, Any, Evoking Emotions Deep,
Surface Little As Days and Years Creep.

Gradual, Yet Certain, They Tend to Flee.
As We Afghans Remain so Care Free.
